As a mother of two and someone who has struggled with anxiety long before becoming a parent, I can tell you that parenthood can certainly bring about the lions share of my daily anxieties and I’m definitely not alone! The list of things I could constantly worry about as a parent is endless. So I’ve had to give myself a reality check and do some grounding because otherwise the anxiety can really suck the joy out of being a parent.
The sometimes elusive family and work balance is a topic that most of us have struggled with or do struggle with now. For our family this is a constant work in progress! But after speaking to the experts, i.e. Moms and families that seem to have it down as well as a few healthcare providers, I’ve put together a few tips for you to help bring your life closer to balance. These tips are also things that worked for me to help me achieve what I felt was a peaceful rhythm to our everyday.
Every.parents.nightmare. The mere thought of head lice causes my scalp to suddenly get itchy and my skin to feel like it’s crawling with these creepy crawlies. I feel infested nooooo! They appear seemingly out of nowhere and do not discriminate. If you’re human and have hair on your head, you’re in their sights (shudders). Thankfully they aren’t interested in your pets and more good news, they don’t jump they crawl and are transferred only by direct contact and from sharing grooming tools, personal items or from physical contact. Lice also don’t carry any bacteria or viruses.
The summer holidays are coming to an end already and the kids are going back to school soon or maybe starting daycare. Whatever the case may be, it’s the time of the year where everyone starts coming home with random viruses. Cue the fevers, coughing, sneezing, copious mucousy runny noses and maybe even vomiting. It’s all part of childhood and educating a young immune system and believe it or not, it’s actually better for children to encounter more microbes throughout childhood because that will result in a more robust, balanced immune system when they reach their adult years. Having said all that, being sick with anything is not fun for anyone and it becomes specially challenging if you are a working mom or dad or have other little ones to care for.
This summer has been a hot one and so keeping cool with healthy snacks is on my mind! Because I also recently gave birth to our second baby girl, life is extra busy and so fast easy and refreshing snacks are what I go for.
