I absolutely LOVE the Christmas holidays! The gatherings, the glowing lights, the wreaths, the sparkly decorations, warms fires, musical cheer and best of all the food! Ooooh the food! This is the time of the year where I allow myself to enjoy those special treats. Everyone has their own personal favorites and mine range from gingerbread to pancakes, stuffing, eggnog, mulled wine and hot cocoa! Delicious! Inevitably, I end up with some indigestion. The holiday season typically results in the worst period of time for digestion and weight gain – cue the booing – and we pay for it through January. So how can you avoid the holiday season hangover without completely depriving yourself of all the things you love?
Spring ahead and fall behind! I definitely prefer the fall because I might get to sleep for an extra hour, as long as my girls have the same plan – haha! Remember the fabulous sleep ins you used to get? Aaaaaaah yes, warm, comfy and quiet bed with as many hours of rest as you wanted! That sounds so dreamy to me! As a mother of two and someone who has struggled with anxiety long before becoming a parent, I can tell you that parenthood can certainly bring about the lions share of my daily anxieties and I’m definitely not alone! The list of things I could constantly worry about as a parent is endless. So I’ve had to give myself a reality check and do some grounding because otherwise the anxiety can really suck the joy out of being a parent.
The sometimes elusive family and work balance is a topic that most of us have struggled with or do struggle with now. For our family this is a constant work in progress! But after speaking to the experts, i.e. Moms and families that seem to have it down as well as a few healthcare providers, I’ve put together a few tips for you to help bring your life closer to balance.
