Natural First Aid For Managing Mosquito Bites

I love my fresh morning air walks in the summer, I also enjoy evening walks and sitting by the fire! They’re a few of my favorite times to bond with family, but they also happen to be the worst times for bugs and I’m a mosquito magnet!

Mosquito bites can be really annoying and if you’re allergic to the bite then the swelling and itching (caused by the body’s release of histamine) can get really bad – for some people, bites can cause reactions as serious as anaphylaxis. I’ll talk about the most common reaction to bug bites, not anaphylaxis.

Summer Sprouts

We love summer and this is our first summer as a family of four. We’ve also just renovated our backyard to make it a usable space, so we’re not quite ready to plant a garden just yet – probably next summer. For this reason, we’ve been looking for easy table top options to grow our own food and start teaching our two year old how to care for plants and help them grow.

Relief From Allergies

Spring has sprung and with all great sunny, warm weather comes the beautiful blossoming of trees, flowers and green grass that I love so much! However, along with all of that comes allergy season and that puts a real damper on my eagerness to get outside!

Allergies are the result of an inappropriate immune reaction, to what is usually a harmless substance. This bodily reaction can cause symptoms like itchy, watery eyes, constant sneezing, stuffy nose, sinus congestion, fog brain, fatigue, eczema, asthma and even anaphylaxis.

Natural treatments for bumps and bruises

The warm sunny weather is here and we love to be outside as much as possible. If you have a little one like me, you know this is the season for bumps, bruises and a few tears to go along with them. While hugs, kisses and a popsicle will soothe the soul, I always try to treat these injuries in ways that will help support the body to heal on it’s own. Our body is programmed to do this automatically and given the right environment and it does a great job!
