Holiday Season Bevies With A Twist!

Sharing is caring!

I do love a good drink alcoholic or not. Some of my favorite holiday memories include great company, a great drink in hand and some good festive music in the background! So here are a few of my favorites along with some healthier twists.

Mulled Wine

A good bottle of wine is a fabulous thing, but mix it (yes mix it) with spices, brandy then warm it and you’re going to love it even more! It’s great in a nice thermos for a snowy evening winter walk or in your favorite mug so you can cuddle up on your sofa with a book or a Netflix marathon.

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of Red Wine (Merlot, Malbec or Cabernet Sauvignon)
  • 1 Orange, sliced in to rounds
  • 6 whole Cloves
  • 3 Cinnamon sticks
  • 3 Star Anise
  • ¼ cup Honey
  • ½ cup Brandy ***Skip this if you’re not really a fan

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a medium sized pot. Bring to a simmer, but do not boil. Reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer gently over low heat for 10 minutes. Serve warm and garnish with orange slices and cinnamon sticks.

Alcohol free recipe

If you prefer to go alcohol free and take the healthy route or if you just want a version that you can share with the kids, then substitute the wine with two bottles of Biotta’s Elderberry juice, skip the brandy and add honey to taste, but follow the rest of the recipe. This elderberry juice is a great source of magnesium and potassium, which makes it a great drink to have in the evening because it’ll help relax you so that you can enjoy your evening and have a good night sleep!

Red Wine Spritzer

This is a new drink to me, because I’m used to spritzer being done with white wine, but give this one a try!

Ingredients

  • 1 Bottle of red wine
  • 1 Liter of Sprite
  • Ice

Directions

Fill glass half way with ice. Then fill half way with red wine and top up with sprite. Gently stir and serve.

Alcohol Free

For the alcohol free version, substitute the red wine with Biotta’s Elderberry Juice. If the first glass is too sweet for you, then use soda instead of sprite.

Morning Mimosas

Mimosas are perfect after a night of festivities or even just alongside your Sunday brunch! This recipe is refreshing with a hint of sweet!

Ingredients

  • 1 750ml Bottle of chilled sparkling wine
  • 1 500ml Bottle of  Biotta’s VITA 7 juice mix
  • 1 Bottle of Grand Mariner
  • 1 Orange, slice to make rounds

Directions

Fill champagne flute ⅓ full with chilled sparkling wine, then combine with ⅓ flute with VITA 7 and finish the glass with 1 tablespoon Grand Marnier

Alcohol free Mimosas

To make this drink alcohol free, simply omit the Grand Marnier
